English for Further Studies

For teenagers who want to improve their English for high school


In English for Further Studies, students learn the necessary grammar,  vocabulary and conversation skills to excel at high school, either in New Zealand or abroad.

Many of our students go on to attend Rangitoto College or Long Bay College.

In English for Further Studies, you will study:

  • Speaking and listening in an English classroom
  • Study skills
  • Reading skills
  • Grammar
  • Writing, including essays, reports and letters
  • Presentations and group projects
  • Vocabulary for high-school subjects
  • Pronunciation

I've been teaching teens at Unique since 2003 and I still love it.

I'm a big reader, a keen shopper and I'm currently learning to play the electric tuba.

I've been at Unique for six years. Before teaching here, I spent almost 40 years as a primary school teacher.

Outside of class, I love walking, gardening and spending time with my grandkids.

Course times

Students can start English for Further Studies any Monday.

The course is available full-time (morning and afternoon) only.

Morning class

0900 – 1030 – Morning class

1030 – 1045 – Break

1045 – 1200 – Morning class (continued)

Afternoon class

1300 – 1400 – Afternoon class

1400 – 1405 – Break

1405 – 1500 – Afternoon class (continued)
